Job Description:
City University in Canada invites applications for a 3-year term faculty position in the Master of Counselling (MC) program. This role offers an exciting opportunity to teach, research, and contribute to developing our graduate program in a collaborative and student-centered environment.
As a term faculty member, you will be responsible for teaching 4 to 6 graduate-level courses per year. Your compensation will include a base salary aligned with current course pay rates, plus an additional 25% for contributions to scholarly activities, service, and administrative responsibilities.
Teaching:
- Develop and deliver 4- 6 graduate-level courses per year, both in-person and online. Courses may include counselling skills, clinical supervision, ethical practice, human development and sexuality, assessment, theory, and research.
- Ensure courses align with accreditation standards and maintain a high standard of academic excellence.
- Facilitate and participate in classroom discussions, case studies, and simulations, supporting student learning and professional development.
Scholarly Activities, Service, and Administrative Tasks
Student Support & Mentorship
- Provide academic advising and mentorship to graduate students.
- Participate in community outreach for student practicum opportunities.
- Support students in the development of their counselling skills and ethical decision-making processes.
Research & Scholarship
- Engage in relevant research and scholarship in counselling, mental health, or related fields, contributing to the academic community and program development.
- Publish and present research at conferences and in peer-reviewed journals.
Service & Collaboration
- Contribute to program committees, curriculum development, and other institutional activities.
- Collaborate with colleagues in the MC program, other faculty members, and community partners to enhance the overall quality of the program and student experience.
Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below represent the knowledge, skills, and abilities required. - PhD in Counselling Psychology or related fields. Masters degree candidates may be considered based on their level of experience.
- Experience teaching at the post-secondary level.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in teaching and research.
- Counsellor Education from a recognized program accredited by CCPA, CPA, BCACC, or the equivalent is desired.
- Minimum of five years of applicable experience in the counselling profession is desired.
- Registration with RCC, CCC or equivalent is desired.
- Specialization in one or more of the following fields: diversity and culture; testing and assessment; family systems; professional ethics and law; counselling psychology theory.
