Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced and highly organized Truck Dispatcher to coordinate long-haul trucking operations. The ideal candidate will be responsible for scheduling drivers, optimizing routes, and ensuring timely deliveries while maintaining compliance with DOT regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and dispatch loads for long-haul drivers
- Communicate with drivers, brokers, and customers to ensure smooth deliveries
- Optimize routes for efficiency and cost-effectiveness
- Monitor driver logs, hours of service, and ensure DOT compliance
- Handle any unexpected delays, breakdowns, or rerouting as needed
- Maintain accurate records of dispatch activity and load details
- Negotiate freight rates with brokers and shippers
Requirements:
- Experience in truck dispatching (long haul preferred)
- Strong knowledge of DOT regulations and trucking industry standards
- Proficiency in dispatch software (e.g., Load boards, TMS)
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multitask
- Strong negotiation skills to secure the best freight rates
