Job Information Job Requisition ID: 66378 Ministry: Infrastructure Location: Edmonton Full or Part-Time: Full Time Hours of Work: 40 hours per week Permanent/Temporary: Ongoing Scope: Open Competition Closing Date: February 12, 2025 Classification: Operation Services 1 Salary: $1,624.62 to $1,974.79 bi-weekly ($42,402 - $51,542/year).
Alberta Infrastructure designs, builds, manages and maintains government-owned and operated facilities, and collaborates with other ministries to ensure that schools, hospitals and government facilities infrastructure meet the needs of Albertas population. The Ministry also provides accommodation services and manages a large portfolio of owned and leased facilities while maintaining fiscal accountability and optimizing value for Albertans. Role Responsibilities
The Shipper/Receiver is responsible for the orderly and proper receipt of all supplies, materials, and equipment. Position ensures the control, safekeeping, custody, accuracy, and integrity of all goods received and ensures that all goods are delivered to the appropriate client or department. This Shipper/Receiver position will function within a demanding, time and quality sensitive framework. Developing and maintaining positive client relations with Justices, Judges, and Judicial staff is a key requirement. This role requires a person who is able to develop and maintain a positive client relation by being responsive to client needs to ensure a high level of client satisfaction.
The primary responsibilities for the Shipper/Receiver are (but not limited to):
- Receive goods and deliver to client department within the Edmonton Law Courts Building
- Organize the shipping area and keep carts available
- Assist couriers with unloading. Inspect the goods for damage. If there is a return shipment, ensure that the correct courier returns it
- Assist the clients with loading file boxes and other goods to be moved or stored within the building
- Prepares and maintains accurate documents as required for the receiving and shipping of all materials
- Safe work methods are practiced, and awareness of work site hazards is maintained
- Respond to client requests in a timely and positive manner
- Maintain on-going communications to understand functional program needs and address specific concerns
- Able to complete work while being around high-profile clients with minimal disruption to clients.
- Declare any surplus items by entering them into the OSSI computer system (Web Based Application) through Surplus Sales. Gather the items, declare and organize, store and tag the items in preparation for pick-up
- The position will at times be required to assist and or work with other in-house building trades. Required to work with both manual and power pallet jacks to move pallets around the building.

Qualifications
Minimum recruitment standards outline the minimum education and experience required for appointment to a job classification. Refer to Minimum Qualifications: High school education, PLUS 6 months of related experience.
Special Requirement: Physically able to lift and handle the caretaking equipment associated with position assignment.
Directly related education or experience considered based on: Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of: 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or 1 year of experience for 1 year of education
Assets:
- High School Education
- Knowledge of receiving, storing, and tracking of materials, mail, equipment, etc.
- Must have a good communication skill to effectively communicate with others, both written and verbal
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions and be able to work independently, with minimal supervision, or within a team environment
- Must have and understanding of WHIMIS
- Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act. Must have an awareness of proper bending and lifting techniques and be able to lift and carry 22 kg
- Must have the physical ability to move various pieces of furniture or equipment
- Must have basic computer skills.
Notes - This position is a permanent, full-time role with the standard weekly work hours of 40hrs Monday to Friday
