About the Role

Reporting to the Director, International Education, the principal purpose of this position is to provide support to full-time International students and MRU students participating in exchange. This role will identify gaps in services for students and strive to identify, initiate and develop initiatives which will support these students. In addition, this role will support the growing demand for services at MRU which supports internationalization on campus by providing immigration advice; programming related to on-line initiatives; settlement, international partnership support which assists in the finalization of international partnership agreements; communications and marketing. Together with the International Education team, this position will develop collaborative approaches and university-wide initiatives, which drive strategic goals forward. Ensure student success and customer satisfaction for all stakeholders engaged in internationalization.

Qualifications
  • Three or four year Bachelor degree in a discipline related to international education
  • Three to five years direct experience working with students in an international setting at a post-secondary institution as well as knowledge of student support services and logistical operations
  • Demonstrated experience and leadership in international affairs, and protocol as well as knowledge of international agencies, organizations, issues and networks
  • Strong familiarity with MRU strategic priorities and outcomes, international education programming, academic programs, services and culture
  • Strong understanding of the complexity of international education with the ability to work in a flexible, fast paced, culturally diverse setting
  • Demonstrated initiative to be a self-starter with excellent team player, interpersonal and leadership skills together with a strong sense of professionalism and customer service and the ability to build connections across units/departments
  • Ability to deal with complex situations and comprehend, prioritize, and multi-task on a number of initiatives while responding in a professional, timely manner while adhering to critical timelines and deadlines
  • Problem-solving, with diplomacy and tact, interpersonal expertise and role modeling together with excellent international relations skills
  • Excellent verbal, written and oral presentation skills
  • Logical, analytical, creative skills for promotion of international initiatives within MRU
  • Experience working with Banner, technical proficiency with web-site maintenance capabilities together with sound financial understanding
  • Experience as an international student (minimum one semester)
  • Fluency in a second language is strongly preferred
  • Accreditation as a Regulated International Student Immigration Advisor (RISIA) or a Regulated Canadian Immigration Consultant (RCIC) is legally required as it relates to providing immigration advice to stakeholders would be an asset
  • Maintaining designation - continually remain up to date with changing federal and provincial laws and policies affecting immigration services, as well as the regulatory requirements applicable to them.

Salary: $ 55,982 - $ 70,841 per annum
