The Nishnawbe Aski Police Service requires one (1) Complaints Intake Administrator - PSB Services based in Thunder Bay, ON, at General Headquarters. This is a full-time position and will work Monday to Friday, 35 hours per week.
The successful applicant will receive, process and enter all incoming internal and external complaints, entering into a database for all internal and public complaints pursuant to the Community Safety and Policing Act. The successful candidate will be responsible for assessing the information, identifying and categorizing the allegations of misconduct within the defined categories of the Community Safety and Policing Act 2019, and prepare summary reports, receive and preserve evidence relating to complaints.
Mandatory Requirements
- 1-2 years of relevant experience relating to the role
- Ability to pass NAPS security clearance and background check
Qualifications
- Post-secondary education relating to the role (experience will be assessed in the absence of post secondary education).
- Demonstrated knowledge of procedures to relevant sections of the Community Safety and Policing Act 2019 relating to the Public Complaints system, relevant NAPS policies (e.g. Public and Internal Complaints system), Special Investigations Unit Act 2019, Human Rights Code, and Respectful
- Workplace Policies in order to process a complaint and respond to enquiries.
- Knowledge of and skill in the use of computer applications (e.g. Microsoft Word, Explorer, Outlook, Excel, (RMS NICHE) to prepare written correspondence.
- Demonstrated written communication skills to prepare complaint summaries in a clear, concise and accurate manner.
- Analytical skills to determine the scope of and respond to a wide variety of correspondence received from the public, research and prepare responses for signature by senior NAPS management, identify allegations of misconduct; and work within the established legislative guidelines.
