The Student Services departments role in student success is to create a culture and environment that unleashes the full potential of all the students at SAIT. Our primary goal is to support Student-First Culture, by focusing on student success and mobilizing all campus community members in this shared goal. The Opportunity Reporting to the Manager, Student Development and Counselling, the Events Grant Coordinator will be responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluation of health and well-being promotion initiatives, events, and resources on campus as part of the Post Secondary Mental Health Grant at SAIT. - Leadership
- Oversee the SAIT Student Wellness Promotion team consisting of student Outreach and Wellness Leaders (OWLs). This includes includes hiring, training and ongoing supervision in preparation for and attending events.
- Collaborate with Student Development and Counselling and other SAIT and provincial stakeholders on the development of mental health and wellness promotion and harm-reduction operational plans.
- Collaborate closely with Manager ensure budgets are met in preparation for events
- Supervise daily operations of event venues as needed.
- Oversee the Zen Den (programming, volunteers and operational requirements
- Event Planning and Coordination
- Plan, execute and oversee all events focused on student wellness and mental health.
- maintain event calendar for long-range planning and preparation.
- Organize all aspects of an event from conception to completion including, but not limited to: goals/objectives, detailed timelines and task lists, budgets, scheduling rooms/venues, staffing and assignments, logistics, fire marshal approvals, transportation, custodial,
- catering/hospitality, decor, entertainment, supplies and promotional items needed, evaluation and final reports, and researching venues.
- Conduct briefings and/or regular meetings with SDC manager, OWLS, peers and volunteers as needed, debriefing with key constituents.
- Coordinate event program materials.
- Manage and staff all events.
- Conduct annual review and assess needs for future events.
- Initiate new events aligned to the PSMHG requirements and initiatives.
- Monitor event responses and reservations, ensure appropriate staff know event details to help field questions and serve as primary contact to all event-related questions.
- Coordinate presenters, participants and guest speakers as needed.
- Work with the team to initiate advertising, printing, signage, invitation mailing, and media notifications to promote events.
- Collaborate with multiple stakeholders to source speakers, ambassadors and content.
- Ensure project planning includes stakeholder input and considerations.
- Support a student-centred approach with a focus on wellness and mental health.
- Collaborate with various campus stakeholders and coordinate communications and outreach activities within other SAIT departments (e.g., Natoysopoyiis, International Centre) and SAIT Satellite campuses (e.g., Point Trotter, Aero Centre).
- Student Experience
- Actively collaborate with SDC leadership to support the creation and execution of events that nurture student Wellbeing.
- Act as a key liaison between students and staff to ensure an environment that successfully meets the distinct needs of the SAIT community.

- Minimum
- Masters in a health-related discipline (Health Promotion, Public Health, Mental Health), project management or program development experience along with 5-10 years of experience in a mental health/ wellness or health-related post-secondary environment.
- Event planning and promotion
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in student affairs, in a Higher Education setting.
- Required
- Knowledge of and experience with implementing Post-secondary mental health programming as well as harm-reduction best-practices.
- Knowledge, experience and certification in mental health related training (i.e. Safe Talk, Mental Health First Aid, QPR, etc)
- Experienced in assessment, report writing and monitoring the progress of pilot initiatives

- Strong understanding of mental health and holistic well-being, and harm-reduction;
- Demonstrated evet planning and implementation experience
- Demonstrate time management, organizational, problem solving and decision-making skills.
- Must be adept at building rapport with others, with strong written and verbal communications skills.
- Continued evaluation of processes and procedures to ensure alignment with departmental strategic priorities
- Experience in facilitation, public presentations, and processing detailed information.
- Ability to exercise judgment and discretion when dealing with matters of a confidential/sensitive manner.
- High intercultural competency with the ability to be inclusive and respectful of cultural and other differences.
- Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office suite and strong ability to learn new systems.
