Current enrollment is 18,500 graduate and undergraduate students. As part of Canadas U15 research-intensive group, Dalhousie University is an influential driver of the regions intellectual, social and economic development. It is the largest university in Atlantic Canada and is located on the ancestral and unceded territory of the Mikmaq in the heart of Halifax (Kjipuktuk) a scenic coastal city and capital of Nova Scotia which is home to 13 Mikmaq First Nations, a deeply rooted African Nova Scotia community, and an increasingly diverse population which includes a vibrant workforce of people living with disabilities. The Sexual Health and Gender (SHaG) research lab is located in the School of Health and Human Performance in the Faculty of Health. The Principal Investigator, Dr. Matthew Numer, is a Professor of Health Promotion in the School of Health and Human Performance in the Faculty of Health at Dalhousie University and cross-appointed to the Gender and Womens Studies Program. His current research projects include the sexual health and well-being of 2SGBTQ+ men engaged in sex work and the sexual health and well-being of Indigenous boys and men. Key Responsibilities: Working collaboratively with SHaG Lab research team, including but not limited to:
- Primarily conducting qualitative research - knowledge of quantitative and mixed methods research is an additional asset
- Coordinating and communicating with community-based organizations
- Monitor financial reports for specific grants and projects, and assist with monitoring for eligible and relevant researchers grants
- Participate in knowledge translation, for example through national/international conference presentations; writing manuscript(s) (with authorship) for peer-reviewed journal(s); preparation of final reports (both academic and community reports); creatively presenting findings; involvement in community forums.
- Grant development and submission - coordinating grant development activities amongst team members, with focused contributions to budget development, letters of support, submission processes, and ethics applications.
