Policy Analyst

The Ministry of Environment is seeking a high motivated results-oriented individual who is committed to effective Crown land policy and program development. This position plays a key role in leading the development of strategies, policies, and legislation to guide the sustainable long-term management, planning and use of provincial Crown resource lands.

As part of the Policy and Programs Unit, the successful candidate will be responsible for researching, assessing, analyzing, reviewing, consulting and recommending Crown land policy and legislation options as well as providing support on a number of Crown land programs. The position will also represent the ministry on various interministerial and interagency committees tasked with discussion of land management and associated issues.

Typically, the knowledge and skills required for this position would be obtained through a degree in public policy, land use planning, geography or related fields of study and several years of progressively responsible experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. As well, the successful candidate should have excellent communication, negotiation and facilitation skills.
