National Flagging System Administrative Manager
This position does not involve interviewing offenders. It primarily involves writing documents which summarize many and often lengthy reports from various sources including police, prosecutions and the Correctional Service of Canada. In addition, it involves gathering those reports and information from those sources and other governmental and non-governmental agencies and individuals, and sharing information across jurisdictions. You will also directly supervise a team of four staff members, and be expected to complete work performance reviews and participate in the coaching of those staff members, as well as evaluating their material. To accomplish this, you will be in daily contact with the sources in person, electronically and over the telephone and will deal with highly sensitive and explicit material.
Working independently, this position requires you to work in an extremely busy and often stressful office with the ability to respect and maintain strict confidentiality. The ability to deal with ever-changing priorities, short time-lines and to balance many tasks in an efficient yet thorough manner are essential. Some of the necessary skills and knowledge for this position would typically be attained through a university degree in Human Justice and/or Criminology. The successful candidate should have demonstrated knowledge of:- the criminal justice and corrections systems, including legal terminology and court processes;
- intervention strategies used to address offenders risk;
- computer applications, including word processing, spreadsheets, and database systems; and
- office management/supervision.
- collect, research and summarize large volumes of information to prepare comprehensive offender profiles;
- independently analyze and evaluate complex situations in order to prioritize an ever-changing workload;
- assess behaviour of individuals to make recommendations for action to be taken to monitor offenders;
- clearly and concisely communicate verbally and in writing to respond to inquiries and/or relay accurate information to the police, legal profession and co-workers;
- input, edit, update and retrieve information, using word processing and database software, with speed and accuracy; and
- generate reports and documents using correct grammar, spelling and punctuation.
