Indigenous and Local Engagement Coordinator
ROLE: The Indigenous and Local Engagement Coordinator supports the engagement and relationship-building efforts with Indigenous and local communities affected by our projects. This role assists in ongoing communication, documentation, and community engagement efforts to support projects from inception to completion. The Indigenous and Local Engagement Coordinator will work directly with the Senior Indigenous and Local Engagement Advisor to execute the program and project deliverables. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist in maintaining and strengthening relationships with Indigenous and local communities.
- Support the coordination of Indigenous and local engagement activities, including employment and procurement initiatives.
- Help organize Indigenous cultural events and ceremonies on projects.
- Assist in tracking and documenting engagement efforts, ensuring commitments to Indigenous communities are met.
- Support the preparation of reports, presentations, and data analysis related to Indigenous and local engagement.
- Attend community events, career fairs, and conferences to develop networks.
- Assist in identifying Indigenous businesses and contractors for potential collaboration.
- Maintains data for Indigenous and local subcontractor information
- Participate in internal and external meetings to provide updates on community engagement activities.
- Work with project teams to support Indigenous and local participation requirements.
- Provide administrative support for engagement-related activities, including scheduling meetings and preparing materials.
- Diploma or degree in a related field (Indigenous Studies, Business, Social Sciences, or equivalent) preferred.
- Valid Class 5 Drivers License is required.
- Minimum of 1 - 3 years of experience in a related role (community engagement, Indigenous relations, or administrative support).
- Experience working with Indigenous communities is an asset.
- Understanding of Indigenous cultures, values, and history.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
