The Opportunity:
The Accounting & Reporting department is part of BC Ferries Finance Division and is responsible for producing external financial reporting in a timely and accurate manner as well as providing accounting expertise to senior management in the decision-making process.
In this role, you are a part of the dynamic, results-driven Accounting & Reporting team. You provide financial and management accounting services to users of financial information within BC Ferries.
The Role
Reporting to the Manager, Accounting & Reporting, you add value and are energized by key areas of oversight such as:
- Processing large volume and complex financial data and maintaining financial systems
- Analyzing and reconciling accounts
- Providing support to the Senior Financial Analysts and Management
- Assisting during internal and external audits
- Preparing regular and ad hoc reports; and assisting in the development and implementation of corporate accounting policies and procedures
- Participating in cross-divisional working groups, and project teams in the development, upgrade, and implementation of financial systems
- Provide exceptional internal customer service
What you bring to the team
- Three to five years of progressively responsible experience in a financial role
- Experience preparing journal entries and variance analysis and applying and interpreting accounting principles
- Experience using financial software (Oracle is preferred) and have the ability to use Microsoft Excel at the advanced level
- Completed intermediate level accounting courses
- Working toward the completion of an accounting designation (CPA preferred)

Additional information
The target salary range: $81,100 - $101,300 per annum. The starting salary is determined based on the successful candidates knowledge, experience and internal equity. Starting salary may exceed the target range on exceptional basis.
