Introduction

Our client, a leading Canadian bakery known for its innovative plant-based, sprouted-grain breads and commitment to healthy, sustainable food production, is seeking a Robotics Commissioning Specialist. You’ll be the key link between the design team and production operations. You’ll take ownership of installing, testing, and commissioning robotic systems — ensuring a smooth handoff to plant teams and optimizing efficiency, quality, and safety.

The successful candidate will collaborate with engineers, maintenance, and production leaders to troubleshoot, adapt, and fine-tune robots in a live environment.

Responsibilities

  • Commission, install, and validate new robotic systems on site
  • Collaborate with design and operations teams to adapt robots to production conditions
  • Train maintenance staff and document procedures for long-term support
  • Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and control issues during installation and ramp-up
  • Ensure all work meets safety, code, and company quality standards
  • Support continuous improvement and optimization of automated equipment

Requirements

  • Diploma or degree in Electrical, Mechatronics, or Automation Engineering (or related discipline)
  • 2+ years of hands-on experience in robotics commissioning, integration, or industrial automation
  • Strong electro-mechanical aptitude and ability to read electrical drawings
  • Experience with Allen Bradley PLCs
  • Exposure to Kawasaki, Fanuc, ABB, or Yaskawa robotic systems
  • Familiarity with Inventor or SolidWorks for mechanical design review
  • Excellent troubleshooting, teamwork, and communication skills
  • Self-motivated, adaptable, and comfortable in a fast-paced production environment
  • Low-voltage electrical design or AutoCAD experience is an asset
  • Knowledge of ROS or collaborative robotics is an asset
  • Food manufacturing or packaging line experience is an asset
