About the Opportunity
Our client is seeking a Project Lead / Strategic Planner to guide the development of its 2025-2030 Strategic Plan. This is a short-term contract role with flexible hours, ideal for a dynamic consultant or strategist with experience in the nonprofit or public sector.
You will lead the strategic planning process, facilitate consultation with stakeholders, and co-develop a meaningful and actionable plan to strengthen programs and services that support military families in Petawawa and surrounding communities.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the overall strategic planning process from initiation to delivery
- Facilitate a Board and Senior Leadership Strategic Planning Retreat (1.5 days in Petawawa, ON - May or June 2025)
- Collaborate with Board Chair, Executive Director, and project team to:
- Review current mission, vision, values, and strategy
- Analyze internal and external environments (SWOT, PEST, etc.)
- Design and facilitate focus groups, workshops, and interviews
- Translate engagement insights into strategic directions and objectives
- Develop the 2025-2030 Strategic Plan, including:
- Executive Summary
- Public presentation materials
- Infographics and report-ready content
- Present the Draft Plan to the Board in August 2025 and incorporate feedback into the final version
- Support development of a communication strategy to launch the plan to stakeholders and the broader community
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 8+ years of experience in strategic planning, organizational development, or management consulting
- Demonstrated experience facilitating strategic planning processes for nonprofits, government agencies, or community-focused organizations
- Proven ability to engage senior leaders, Boards, and diverse stakeholder groups
- Strong knowledge of strategic frameworks, stakeholder engagement methods, and environmental analysis tools
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Comfortable working independently and remotely
- Ability and willingness to travel to Petawawa, Ontario for one (1) in-person retreat
- Familiarity with military family services, community-based organizations, or the public service sector is considered an asset
Contract Duration & Commitment
- Start Date: April 15, 2025 (flexible)
- End Date: August 31, 2025
- Estimated commitment: 20-25 days total, part-time
- Hybrid delivery: remote + 1 in-person session (travel costs reimbursed)
