Timber Ridge Tree Service is a trusted family owned and local arborist business. We specialize in high-quality tree maintenance, removal, and preservation, serving residential, commercial, and municipal clients. As we continue to grow, we are looking for a Lead Arborist to bring expertise, leadership, and passion to our team in 2025.

Position Overview

As the Lead Arborist, you will oversee daily tree care operations, lead a team of skilled arborists, and ensure the highest standards of safety, professionalism, and client satisfaction. This role requires a strong mix of hands-on expertise, leadership, and technical tree care knowledge.

The person we are looking for must be a competent climber and have experience with rigging trees. The ability to do hazardous removals and experience in pruning and shaping all species of trees, hedges and bushes.

Certification is not required but it is a benefit and wages will be adjusted based on your qualifications and work ethic.

You must have a valid drivers license, be able to drive a chip truck, maintain aborist equipment such as (chainsaws, hedge trimmers, chippers, stump grinders, etc.)

We also expect the crew lead to be able to manage, lead and organize, a ground crew while on the job site.

Good communication skills are a must. You may have to speak to residential customers and be able to understand their needs and concerns to ensure they are happy.

You will be communicating with the office on a daily basis and be responsible for time management on the job site.

You will also be required to check the trucks, and load the tools needed to complete the jobs assigned each day.

Must have your own transport to and from work.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, train, and mentor your groundmans and labourers
• Perform and oversee tree pruning, removals, and trimming
• Operate and maintain tree care equipment, including chainsaws, chippers, and stump grinder.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards, company protocols, and industry best practices.
• Provide exceptional customer service, educating clients on tree care needs.
• Assist with on time completion, hitting company metrics, and maintaining work quality

Qualifications & Skills

Certified Arborist (ISA or equivalent) - bonus

Minimum 2+ years of experience in tree care/arboriculture

Strong leadership and team management skills

Proficiency in climbing techniques (spikes, ropes, rigging, dangerous removals)

Experience operating heavy equipment (chip truck, chippers, stump grinders)

Knowledge of tree species, diseases, and proper care methods

Valid Class 5 drivers license

First Aid, WHMIS, chainsaw safety and fall protection training (or willingness to obtain)

Operations:

We operate primarily in Calgary and surrounding area and our shop is located on Hi Way 22x just East of Calgary.

We are looking for someone with a positive attitude, whom is reliable and has a good work ethic. We expect you to show up prepared and ready to complete the jobs required.

You do not need your own climbing equipment or PPE but is a bonus if you have it.
