Communicative Disorders Assistant

Job SummarySpeech-Language Ottawa is seeking a driven, creative, and client-focused Communicative Disorders Assistant (CDA) to join our growing team. Youll work with preschool, school-aged and/or adult clients in their natural environments including homes, daycares, and community settings to help build meaningful communication skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide one-on-one speech and language therapy to preschool and school-aged children and/or adults in natural settings (home, daycare, after-school programs, senior living facilities, etc.)
  • Work closely with supervising Speech-Language Pathologists to implement individualized treatment goals
  • Design and deliver engaging therapy sessions tailored to client interests and strengths
  • Create home programming and provide coaching to parents and caregivers to support carryover of skills
  • Collaborate with other professionals involved in the clients care to ensure a team-based approach
  • Maintain clear documentation of sessions and progress

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited Communicative Disorders Assistant (CDA) program and in good standing with CDAAC
  • Valid drivers license and consistent access to a reliable vehicle
  • Eligible for professional liability insurance
  • Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to follow SLP treatment plans while bringing creativity and initiative to therapy sessions
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently and seek support when needed

Assets (Not Required)

  • Bilingualism (English/French)
  • Experience working with autistic individuals and/or those with other developmental needs
  • 1+ year of experience as a CDA (we will consider highly motivated new grads with strong qualifications)
