Role Overview:
The Youth Supervisor is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing the effective delivery of youth programs and services, specifically the Youth Transitions Program (YTP) in Edmonton and Grande Prairie, as well as Back on Track (BOT) in Edmonton. This position ensures that onsite and offsite programming meets the needs of youth within the community, aligns with YMCA standards, and fulfills contractual obligations with multiple funders and stakeholders.
Working in close collaboration with the Program Manager, the Youth Supervisor leads a diverse team across on-site and off-site locations, supports the budget(s), evaluates program performance, and fosters strong relationships with community partners. The role demands a high level of professionalism, and interpersonal skills to ensure quality service delivery and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities:

Program & Service Delivery

  • Reporting to the Program Manager to design, implement, and evaluate the Youth Transitions Program and Back on Track program components to ensure effectiveness and impact.
  • Engage with participants and the broader community to ensure programs and initiatives meet the needs of youth participants.
  • Develop or source program materials and tools to support staff and participant learning.
  • Support proposal development and meet participant engagement targets as identified by the Program Manager and programming requirements.
  • Complete data recording, reporting, and other administrative and programming duties as identified.
  • Participates in evening or weekend work for programs, meetings, and/or special events in both Edmonton and Grande Prairie.

Financial & Human Resource Management

  • Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate staff, volunteers, and students.
  • Ensure staff accountability to service standards, ethical practices, and contract compliance.
  • Lead consistent team meetings and contribute to organizational leadership forums.

Community Engagement & Promotion

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with community partners and stakeholders.

Qualifications:

  • University degree in Human Services, Education, or a related field.
  • Registration with a regulated professional body (as required by law).
  • Experience and passion working with and for diverse, high-needs, or marginalized youth using a culturally sensitive and trauma-informed approach.
  • Intermediate (Standard) First Aid, CPR/AED Level C, WHMIS.
  • Clear Police Intervention Check with Vulnerable Sector Search.
  • Preferred: Non-Violent Crisis Intervention and Suicide Intervention certification.
  • Minimum 2 years in a supervisory role.
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience in a team-based environment.
  • Passion for recreation programming.
  • Proficiency Microsoft Office and other forms of technology effectively.
