A career as a Senior Director- Taxation, Performance and Operational Compliance in the Investment Operations team at National Bank means acting as a strategic leader to accelerate the performance and transformation of the Investment Operations sector by acting as a strategic driver for secure growth. Able to transform regulatory and operational complexity into a sustainable competitive advantage, while protecting the Bank, controlling risks and supporting the evolution of business lines.


It's through your strategic leadership and ability to influence and align teams, your experience with regulatory environments and organizations as well as tax authorities, your understanding of operational risk management principles, internal controls and audit requirements in a banking environment that you have a positive impact on our clients, employees and shareholders.

Your job

  • Act as an expert leader for the Bank by ensuring compliance with our regulatory obligations and monitoring our constantly evolving regulatory, operational and technological environment.
  • Manage a team of 40 employees, including 4 Senior Managers and Senior Professional Executives
  • Define and pilot the governance strategy, including implementing due diligence processes, to ensure compliance, risk management and alignment with business priorities.
  • Effectively manage quality and operational risk based on the risk propensity parameters determined by the Bank
  • Provide strategic leadership on senior teams in a complex and regulated environment
  • Serve as a strategic partner for leaders in wealth Management, Capital Markets, Personal Banking and commercial Banking
  • First- or second-line accountability for operational risks, key controls and compliance issues
  • Drive operational transformation by simplifying, standardizing and automating processes to support growth

You are part of a team of more than 600 employees in Operations investments and will report to the Vice-President - Investments Operations. Prerequisites

  • 10 years or more of relevant experience, including managing managers and senior professionals and carrying out complex organizational transformations
  • Accounting designation (BIA or equivalent) an asset
  • Relevant experience in risk management, compliance and/or taxation, ideally in a regulated environment
  • Solid knowledge of regulatory environments and organisations (particularly Ciro, OSFI and AMF), as well as Canadian and international tax authorities (CRA, IRS)
  • Proficiency in international tax programs and frameworks such as CRS, FATCA, QI and QDD
  • In-depth understanding of operational risk management principles internal controls and audit requirements in a banking context
  • Ability to manage change, with strong ability to influence stakeholders, understand business needs and translate them into concrete orientations
