We are looking for a Delivery Manager for a 12-month contract position, with possible extensions in Calgary, Alberta.Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.

This position is a hybrid position primarily on-site in downtown Calgary with 4 days in the office/ week.

Role Description:

The Delivery Manager is accountable for governing, coordinating, and optimizing release and delivery processes, supporting cross-team execution, and ensuring operational readiness for production deployments. This is a high-visibility, strategic role requiring strong leadership, risk management, and facilitation skills during release windows and throughout the delivery lifecycle. This role provides strategic leadership over the end-to-end release and delivery lifecycle, ensuring safe, predictable, and high-quality deployments across enterprise teams. The Delivery Manager will drive operational excellence, continuous improvement, and effective coordination across multiple projects and stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

Release & Delivery Leadership

  • Own and maintain the enterprise release calendar and delivery roadmap.
  • Lead go/no-go decision forums with executive stakeholders and ensure deployment readiness across all teams.
  • Coordinate cross-team release activities, dependencies, and communications.
  • Oversee hotfix deployments, rollback plans, and post-release verification checks.
  • Ensure post-release monitoring, validation, and post-incident reviews are completed and actionable insights are shared.
  • Develop, standardize, and publish release notes, dashboards, and quality metrics.

Operational & Delivery Assurance

  • Ensure compliance with release standards, operational readiness, and governance processes.
  • Validate scope, tagging, and readiness of deliverables, including UAT and production release criteria.
  • Track and report on release predictability, defect trends, and operational performance.
  • Identify, escalate, and mitigate cross-team release risks and interdependencies.
  • Monitor release freeze periods and ensure adherence to organizational policies.

Process Improvement & Strategic Initiatives

  • Lead initiatives to reduce manual release steps, improve automation, and enhance overall delivery efficiency.
  • Define, enforce, and continuously improve release entry and exit criteria and quality gates.
  • Maintain a centralized knowledge repository for lessons learned and best practices.
  • Drive preventive and corrective process improvement initiatives to enhance operational maturity.
  • Ensure consistent and up-to-date release management documentation across teams.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
  • 5+ years of senior release, delivery, or program management experience in complex IT environments.
  • Strong understanding of release management, deployment governance, and quality assurance principles.
  • Proven ability to coordinate cross-functional teams, manage dependencies, and mitigate enterprise-level risks.
  • Excellent executive communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience driving strategic process improvement and operational excellence initiatives.
  • Strong organizational, planning, and tactical execution abilities.
  • Flexible and adaptable, able to manage shifting priorities and work under pressure to meet critical deadlines.

Preferred Skills:

  • Change management, project management, or business analysis certifications.
  • Experience in the Alberta Oil & Gas industry or regulatory environments.
  • Proven experience leading enterprise-level release management in complex IT landscapes.
