About the Role:

The Child-Minding Coordinator provides effective supervision and coordination of City of Edmonton Recreation Centre child minding programs.

Candidates must be available to work a combination of shifts between Monday-Saturday 8:30am-12:30 pm and Monday-Thursday 4:15pm-8:15pm.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide high quality and inclusive child-minding experience for all children and families.
  • Coach and support educators through role modeling, upholding curriculum standards, and fostering an inclusive environment so they can meet expectations outlined in their job descriptions.
  • Spend a minimum of 75% of time in the classrooms.
  • Supports, assists and mentors new Educators Work as an in-classroom mentor for new hires following the training manual; Implements approved curriculum designed to promote the social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development of each child, fostering a safe, inclusive, and stimulating environment.
  • Maintains a safe and supportive environment by following YMCA/City of Edmonton policies/procedures, and Health Regulations.
  • Develop relationships with their City of Edmonton Recreation Centre contact.
  • Daily monitoring of indoor playgrounds.
  • Work in program as an instructor as required, including supporting other Child Minding programs.
  • Engage in continuous professional development and training to enhance skills and knowledge in the field of Child Care.

Qualifications:

  • Level 1, 2 or 3 Child Care Certification, or in progress.
  • Standard or Child Care First Aid & CPR – C.
  • Able to obtain a Police Information Check with Vulnerable sector check.
  • Leadership experience in children’s programs.
  • Ability to work in a team and with minimal supervision.
  • Experience working with a computer and Microsoft Office applications.
