Join our team
We are looking for a Commercial Director at Four Seasons Resort & Residences Whistler. This position reports to the General Manager, has a dotted line to the VP Hotel Marketing/Regional Director of Marketing, and is Planning/Executive Committee level. The Commercial Director sits on the hotel’s executive leadership team and directs all sales and commercial activities with the support of teams including Sales, Catering, Conference Services, Public Relations, Marketing Communications, and Revenue Management to ensure that all activities and bookings are focused on yielding maximum revenue per room occupied as well as in all of the hotel’s outlets.
What you will do
The Commercial Director will develop the local hotel brand and narrative, including positioning in the market, storytelling, and subsequent programming. The role requires the ability to execute and effectively communicate strategies and tactics employed to all key stakeholders, including ownership, the hotel team, and our corporate office. The Commercial Director will create and implement marketing strategies and tactics that ensure all marketing activities focus on maintaining the unique positioning of the property in an ever‑changing competitive environment and achieving maximum revenue for the property. This seasoned professional will play a pivotal role in shaping strategic and operational decisions as a key member of the hotel leadership team.
What you bring
- 3+ years of experience as a Commercial Director, Director of Marketing, or similar role, with a proven track record in both sales and marketing.
- Strong experience in Marketing Communications/Revenue Management with a proven record of driving demand and managing high‑performing teams.
- Strong revenue and budget management skills, creative flair for marketing, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and demonstrated effective leadership.
- 4‑year university or college degree, or equivalent experience.
- Knowledge of destination marketing and exposure to luxury hospitality marketing in a remote destination.
- Ability to make quick decisions and work in a diverse work environment.
- Ability to build, develop and maintain a cohesive team.
- Strong prioritization, organization, and management of competing priorities.
- Well‑developed leadership and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to design, develop and deliver effective presentations.
- Excellent reading, writing, and oral proficiency in English.
- Knowledge of revenue and client management systems preferred.
- Leadership role requires action‑oriented, forward‑looking, broad in scope, proactive drive, sense of urgency, initiative, and competitive drive to influence others, delegate, develop contacts, and build relationships.
- Systems experience preferred with Golden Sales & Catering, Ideas, BI RevFinder, Publicis, and Opera.
- Applicant must be available to travel as needed.
- Position is based onsite with active involvement with the rest of the planning committee.
