Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Senior Consultant, Equity and Inclusion to join the Human Resources Division. As part of the Equity and Inclusion team, the Senior Consultant will work collaboratively to deliver high quality service across TPL. This role will support the development and implementation of workplace reconciliation, equity, inclusion, and human rights initiatives that align with TPL’s strategic priorities and foster an equitable and inclusive workplace.
Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Equity and Inclusion, the Senior Consultant, Equity and Inclusion will be responsible for:
- Implementing TPL’s Workforce Equity and Inclusion Strategy, in collaboration with internal stakeholders.
- Serving as an internal advisor on matters related to workplace reconciliation, equity, inclusion and human rights issues.
- Coordinating the planning and delivery of reconciliation, equity, inclusion, and human rights projects and initiatives.
- Organizing and delivering staff events and activities that increase the visibility of human rights, equity and inclusion throughout TPL.
- Developing measurement and evaluation frameworks to support an outcomes-based approach.
- Establishing, coordinating, facilitating and supporting equity, inclusion and human rights related focus groups, roundtables, committees and working groups.
- Researching and presenting best practices and options for workforce programs and policies, including assessment of implications, feasibility of options and implementation strategies.
- Post-secondary degree in Social Sciences, Equity Studies, Human Rights, Human Resources, or a related field.
- Formal training or certification in equity and inclusion, human rights, anti-oppression/anti-racism or other related topics would be an asset.
- Minimum of (4) four years of progressive experience focused on the development and implementation of human rights and/or workplace equity and inclusion projects and initiatives.
- Lived experience as a member of an Indigenous, Black and/or equity-deserving group is preferred, with a strong understanding of equity, inclusion and reconciliation obtained through lived experience and demonstrated through daily interactions.
- Demonstrated understanding of organizational development, change management, and employee engagement best practices.
- Demonstrated experience in group facilitation.
- Knowledge and experience in applying relevant provisions of the Ontario Human Rights Code, the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, the Occupational Health & Safety Act, Employment Equity Act, and other relevant legislation.
- Strong analytical skills, with experience working with qualitative and quantitative research and data analysis.
- Strong writing skills, with an ability to write reports, develop presentations, and create learning materials.
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications.
- Proven ability to collaborate and work with interdisciplinary teams.
- A high capacity for objectivity, fairness, impartiality and flexibility without compromising standards.
- Strong problem solving skills with the ability to approach obstacles in a logical and analytical manner.
- Experience and certification in conducting workplace harassment and human rights investigations is an asset.
- Previous experience working in a unionized, public-sector environment is an asset.
