Position: Event Planner - Diamond Alumni Center
Location: Simon Fraser University (Burnaby, BC)
Salary: $65,000
Additional benefits: 3 weeks vacation, excellent healthcare benefits (effective day 1), RRSP matching plan
Education Benefits:
A tuition waiver program for employees of eligible contract service providers and their eligible family members: spouses and dependents under twenty-five (25) years of age, who are enrolled in undergraduate and graduate
Access to certain on-campus services, such as the library and recreation facilities, community building activities/events; and
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
An employee of an eligible contracted service provider who wants to access the on-campus benefits will be asked to obtain a letter of attestation from your employer.
This letter will confirm:
- The employee works directly for the contracted service provider on a continuing basis at premises owned or leased by SFU
- In connection with such work, the average number of hours the employee is expected to work on a bi[1]weekly basis during the then upcoming academic semester;
- The percentage of a full-time equivalency, based on a full-time equivalency of 70 bi-weekly hours, represented by the hours the employee is expected to work; and
- The dates during which the employee has worked for the contracted service provider while the employee has been working at premises owned or leased by SFU.
Overview: We are currently recruiting for a dynamic and talented Event Planner with exceptional people skills to join our events team.
As the Event Planner, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the events.

Duties:
With a “Can Do” attitude and a “Passion for Excellence”, the Event Planner provides the best experience for our clients and event attendees:
- Build and maintain positive relationships with clients, associates and suppliers.
- Hire, train and schedule associates and be actively involved in the development of service.
- Ensure each Wedding function is well planned and prepared, successfully carried-out and financially sound.
- Ensure specifications and requests of each Wedding event are communicated and executed down the channel effectively.
- Identify and resolve event issues to minimize complications.
Required: (please only apply if you meet all required qualifications):
- Strong catering industry experience working within hotels or catering companies
- Strong hands on and planning experience of the event planning process as well with weddings.]
- Well rounded at all stages of: Client Management, Planning, Execution, Closure & Follow up)
- Customer focused: a friendly, outgoing personality with a genuine interest in providing excellent customer service
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Effectively manage time and resources to ensure that work is completed efficiently
- Superior attention to detail
- Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships and work cooperatively with team members
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
- Able to work in a fast paced environment with changing work priorities
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, Word and Excel
