The Vice President (VP), Commercial Automotive is a senior leadership role within Automotive Finance, Canadian Banking, responsible for leading Scotiabank's national Commercial Automotive business. Reporting to the Senior Vice President, Automotive Finance, the VP provides strategic leadership across sales, credit, and operations while overseeing a significant portfolio of dealer relationships, syndicated lending opportunities, and commercial automotive clients across Canada.

The VP leads a national team across multiple regions and functions, serving as a senior relationship manager for key clients while ensuring strong execution across sales management, credit oversight, operational effectiveness, and talent development. The successful candidate will balance commercial banking expertise, client stewardship, business leadership, and industry knowledge in a highly relationship-driven environment.

Accountabilities

  • Lead and drive a customer-focused culture throughout the team to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge.
  • Own and execute the Commercial Automotive sales strategy across Canada, ensuring continued strength and profitability of the portfolio.
  • Lead national and regional sales leaders across Canada to deliver against financial objectives and business priorities.
  • Maintain and strengthen relationships with key dealer groups, National Accounts, and other strategic clients across the country.
  • Drive portfolio profitability through effective pricing discipline, relationship management, and risk oversight.
  • Provide executive leadership across sales, credit, and operations teams to ensure consistency, efficiency, and strong client outcomes.
  • Oversee complex commercial lending and credit activities, ensuring sound underwriting, portfolio quality, and adherence to risk appetite.
  • Foster greater connectivity between Automotive Finance clients and the Bank's broader Commercial Banking, Wealth, and Retail platforms.
  • Maintain a strong external presence within the automotive finance marketplace and represent Scotiabank at industry events and client engagements.
  • Direct day-to-day activities in a manner consistent with the Bank's risk culture and relevant risk appetite statements and limits.
  • Build, develop, and retain a high-performing team through coaching, succession planning, talent development, and inclusive leadership practices.

Education & Experience

  • Experience in Commercial Credit/Lending and Syndications.
  • Significant leadership experience within commercial banking, commercial lending, automotive finance, or a related financial services environment.
  • Deep knowledge of commercial credit, lending structures, portfolio management, and risk assessment.
  • Experience leading large, geographically dispersed teams across multiple business functions.
  • Strong relationship management skills with experience engaging senior executives, business owners, and large commercial clients.
  • Proven track record of managing significant portfolios and delivering strong financial, client, and operational outcomes.
  • Thorough knowledge of Canada's financial services marketplace and expert knowledge of the Automotive Finance marketplace, major customers, and competitive positioning within the market areas.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence, negotiate, and build credibility with sophisticated clients and stakeholders.
  • Strong business judgment, leadership capability, and risk management acumen.
  • Willingness and ability to travel nationally to support clients, employees, and industry activities.
