Trillium Lakelands District School Board requires one (1) temporary Speech-Language Pathologist. This position is available for the period January30,2026untilJune26,2026.

Region: City of Kawartha Lakes Region

Location: Lindsay Education Centre (Supporting schools within the City of Kawartha Lakes area)

Salary:$86,722 - $94,401

POSITIONSUMMARY

This is a full-time position associated with the school year calendar.

The Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) will promote student achievement, equity and well-being, through consultation and by administering speech and language assessments to children and youth in elementary and secondary schools. The SLP will be responsible for providing follow-up services from assessment recommendations, including capacity building with staff.

DutiesandResponsibilities

  • Consult with regular and special education teachers, Specialized Services staff, educational assistants, administrative staff and parents regarding speech and language programs, resources, accommodations and modifications for any student with communication difficulty involving speaking, listening, reading, or writing
  • Provide formal and informal assessment and observation of students with communication difficulties involving speaking, listening, reading or writing
  • Interpret and discuss assessment results, recommendations and program modifications with appropriate staff and parents
  • Provide assessments and programming recommendations for non-speaking students
  • Maintain appropriate documentation and records
  • Act as a resource to the In-School Team to support the preventative approach through consultation
  • Collaborate to provide workshops to meet identified needs of School Board staff
  • Providing clinical supervision of Communication Disorder Assistants
  • To be knowledgeable of current tests and measures related to school age children
  • To be knowledgeable of recent developments in programming and interventions for exceptional students
  • To be knowledgeable about pertinent legislation/board procedures related to privacy, duties to report and Personal Health Information Protection Act
  • Responsible for the assessment, analysis and diagnosis of language disorders
RequiredSkillsInclude:
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively as an integral member of a team
  • Consultation experience with a number of professionals, parents and community agencies
  • Familiarity with a wide range of communication and special education programs and services is an asset
  • Prior experience in working with a CDA and knowledge of AAC is an asset
  • As travel is required, candidates must possess a valid Ontario Driver's License and access to reliable transportation
Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology
  • Registered or eligible to be registered with the College of Audiologists and Speech-Pathologists of Ontario (CASLPO)
  • Experience working with school-aged children is preferred but new graduates are welcome
  • 3-5 years of Speech-Language experience in a school board setting is preferred
  • Experience supporting school-aged children with a broad range of communication difficulties and neurodiversities an asset
  • Experience writing clinical reports and making evidence-based recommendations is preferred
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively as an integral member of a team
  • Consultation experience with a number of professionals, parents and community agencies
  • Familiarity with a wide range of communication and special education programs and services is an asset
  • Prior experience in working with a CDA and knowledge of AAC is an asset
