RQ11159 - Sr. Database Administrator
1-year 10-month contract (447 business days) - possible extension
ONSITE 5 days - 222 Jarvis St., Toronto or 49 Place d'Armes, Kingston
Security Level: CRJMC
Must have:
- 7–10+ years of experience in Database Administration, including design, implementation, operations, and optimization of enterprise‑scale database systems.
- Proven expertise administering cloud database platforms, with a strong focus on Azure PaaS and IaaS database services.
- Experience managing cloud data services for project delivery, including storage, repositories, virtual machines, disks, key vaults, Data Lake, Data Warehouse, and Data Lakehouse platforms
- Expertise in Azure SQL Database, Azure SQL Managed Instance, and SQL Server on Azure Virtual Machines.
- Advanced performance tuning and troubleshooting, including:
- Query optimization and indexing strategies
- Azure SQL Query Store analysis
- Intelligent Performance & automatic tuning features
- Review of wait statistics and IO analysis
- TempDB optimization
- Understanding and mitigating Azure throttling limits
Responsibilities:
- Designing and developing data pipelines from source to end user
- Optimizing data pipelines
· Creates physical database designs and operates and administers the database management system (DBMS) including database optimization, capacity planning, installation and migration, database design, performance tuning, backup and recovery

Additional Skills for Cloud Database Administrator:
· Expertise and experience in Cloud DB Administration, Data Development (DevOps/DataOps) & Operations, Data Integration, Automation tools and technologies. Further research suggested on a potential need for a role of a Senior DevOps/Cloud DBA at a rate similar to a Senior DevOps/Could Engineer
Additional Skills for Oracle Database Administrator:
· Experience in e-Business Suite Applications R12.2 and Oracle Data Guard application (installation, configuration, maintenance, patching, upgrade, and cloning)
· Knowledge and experience in configuring the latest version of WebLogic, OEM Grid Control
· Expert level knowledge of migrating Oracle technologies from Unix (Solaris) to Oracle Enterprise Linux / Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.x/6.x/7.x
· Expert level knowledge of Advanced Compression, Data partitioning processes
· High level knowledge of data masking using Oracle patches and database scripts
· Performance tuning of e-Business Suite R12.2/19c in multi-node RAC

· Expert level knowledge of Oracle 12c/19c database administration, maintenance, security implementation, upgrade and patching, database performance tuning, sizing and capacity planning, database backup and recovery using RMAN
· Knowledge of Configuring Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.2 using Logical Host
· Knowledge of Online patching
Knowledge of UNIX OS (Operating System) and Linux OS, utilities, shell scripting
