Step into a pivotal finance role with a leading transportation and logistics organization, where you’ll own the numbers that drive strategic decisions and operational performance. Our client, is a leading transportation and logistics company who is in search of a Finance Manager to join their team for a 12 month contract. For the right candidate, there is strong potential for the role to convert to a permanent position. The role is in office full time located in Mississauga.

This Finance Manager role offers the opportunity to lead financial control, reporting, and analysis within a complex trucking environment, partnering closely with operations to maximize profitability and cash flow.

 As Finance Manager, you will oversee end-to-end financial management for designated contracts and business units, ensuring accurate reporting, robust controls, and clear insight into performance. You will act as the key finance partner to operations and senior management, translating financial results into actionable recommendations. Your work will directly impact cost efficiency, margin improvement, and cash flow stability across the transportation and logistics portfolio.

 Key Responsibilities: Own the full month-end close process for assigned contracts, including journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and variance analysis. Prepare timely and accurate financial statements and management reports, ensuring alignment with corporate accounting policies and CPA standards. Develop, maintain, and monitor budgets and forecasts, providing regular updates and scenario analysis to support decision-making. Manage cash flow for assigned business units, including forecasting, monitoring collections and payments, and highlighting liquidity risks or opportunities. Implement, maintain, and enhance financial controls and procedures to safeguard assets and ensure compliance with internal and external requirements.  Analyze transportation, logistics, and trucking cost structures, identifying cost drivers, tracking KPIs, and recommending cost control initiatives. Lead and mentor a small finance team or support staff, providing guidance on best practices in accounting, reporting, and use of financial systems. Collaborate with operations and commercial teams to review contract performance, pricing, and profitability, supporting continuous improvement initiatives.

Must Have: CPA designation (or equivalent) completed; candidates in the final stages of CPA completion may be considered with strong relevant experience. Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.  Proven experience in a Controller, Contract Controller, or Senior Financial Analyst role within transportation, logistics, trucking, or a similar asset-intensive environment. Strong hands-on expertise in financial reporting, general ledger management, and month-end close processes. Demonstrated capability in budgeting, forecasting, and financial modelling, including variance and trend analysis. Solid track record in cash flow management, including forecasting, working capital oversight, and liquidity analysis. Experience designing, implementing, and maintaining financial controls and accounting procedures. Advanced proficiency in Excel, including complex formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis tools. Experience with Quick Books and TMW/Truck Mate or comparable transportation management / ERP systems. Proven ability to lead, coach, and develop team members in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. Strong analytical mindset, capable of handling large data sets and performing insightful, complex analysis, with advanced Excel skills. Highly organized, detail-oriented, and motivated to learn and improve. A track record of driving process improvements that enhance efficiency and add value. Strong team player with a positive attitude, willingness to help colleagues and “go the extra mile.” Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to translate complex data into clear insights. Adaptability to work independently and manage multiple priorities. Experience in a similar role within a corporate environment is preferred.
