Driver Trainer
Location: Timmins, ONSchedule: Part‑Time
Position Summary
First Student is seeking an experienced and safety‑focused Part‑Time Driver Trainer to support our Timmins, Ontario location.
In this role, you will provide classroom and behind‑the‑wheel training to new and existing school bus drivers, ensuring compliance with Ontario Ministry of Transportation (MTO) regulations, First Student safety standards, and local school board requirements.
This position is well suited for an experienced school bus driver who enjoys mentoring others, sharing knowledge, and making a positive impact in the community through part‑time work.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver classroom and behind‑the‑wheel training for new school bus drivers
Provide refresher or remedial training to existing drivers as required
Coach and mentor drivers with a focus on safe driving practices and regulatory compliance
Evaluate driver performance to ensure required skill levels and certifications are met
Maintain accurate training records and documentation in accordance with MTO, company, and contract requirements
Support overall safety initiatives at the location
Identify performance gaps and collaborate with local leadership to develop training plans
Participate in meetings and training sessions as required
Perform other duties related to safety and training as assigned
Qualifications & Experience
Valid Ontario Class B or higher licence with appropriate endorsements (or equivalent)
Minimum two (2) years of school bus or commercial driving experience
Clean driver abstract dated within the past 30 days
Strong communication, mentoring, and coaching skills
Ability to work independently with limited supervision
