LeverageTek is actively seeking a Data/Information Management Specialist for a 6-month contract with its Ottawa-based customer.

Scope
The Data/Information Management Specialist will support the client in operationalizing its Data Governance Framework. This role is project-driven, focusing on the tactical application of IM concepts “at scale,” including creating governance artifacts and ensuring data is effectively managed throughout its lifecycle. The role will collaborate primarily with internal teams and will contribute to Microsoft 365 and SharePoint readiness initiatives, advancing data governance practices and improving data literacy across the organization.
Key tasks
Support the operationalization of the organization's Data & AI Strategy by executing on defined project deliverables across the Data Analytics & AI portfolio
Develop, populate, and maintain information management artifacts, templates, and documentation (e.g., data governance frameworks, metadata tagging standards, information lifecycle management plans)
Support the SharePoint readiness initiative, including site cleanup, governance structure revamp, and associated change management and training delivery
Assist in the design and delivery of Data & AI literacy programs, including workshop materials, training content, prompting guides, and awareness communications (drop-in sessions, written nudges, one-on-ones)
Apply metadata tagging and data labelling practices to support proper data governance and security architecture alignment
Engage with internal IMIT stakeholders to gather context, understand requirements, and translate strategic direction into actionable project-level work
Work off existing Business Requirements Documentation (developed by Deloitte) and internal strategy documents to guide artifact creation and delivery planning
Support change management planning and delivery related to information management process changes and tool rollouts
Contribute to assessing the organization's current state of data and AI readiness and identifying gaps to address
Key Qualifications
INFORMATION MANAGEMENT EXPERTISE 5–8 years of hands-on experience in Information Management (IM), including information lifecycle management, metadata tagging, data governance frameworks, and records/content management. Must have practical, execution-level experience — not solely strategic or architectural.
BUSINESS ANALYSIS SKILLS Demonstrated ability to engage with stakeholders, interpret strategic documentation, and translate direction into concrete deliverables, templates, and artifacts. Experience working from existing BRDs or strategy documents to produce actionable outputs.
MICROSOFT 365 PROFICIENCY Strong working knowledge of SharePoint, OneDrive, and Microsoft Teams as primary data and content management platforms. Experience with SharePoint governance, site structure, and content organization is essential.
Qualifications
Experience supporting or delivering change management plans related to data governance or information management initiatives
Familiarity with data and AI literacy program development, including training material creation and structured delivery planning
Understanding of structured and unstructured data environments and associated governance considerations
Ability to create and populate artifacts independently, including developing templates from scratch when required
Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to present clearly to internal IMIT teams and directors
Comfortable working in a fast-paced, multi-stream portfolio environment with evolving priorities
Assets
Experience with Data Vault or advanced data modeling methodologies (Star schema, Snowflake schema).
Familiarity with SSIS, SSRS, SSMS, or other Microsoft analytics tools.
Experience with version control (Git) and Azure DevOps CI/CD for data pipelines.
Experience in multi-platform data integration and hybrid cloud/on-prem solutions.
