Job Title: Construction Manager (Commercial & Institutional Construction)

Location: Edmonton, Alberta

Salary: $180,000 – $220,000 annually (based on experience)

Our client is a national General Contractor with ICI projects in every major Canadian market. Their Edmonton team is seeking a Construction Manager, a strategic operations leader responsible for managing and coaching multi-disciplinary teams including PMs, coordinators, superintendents, and support staff.

In this role, you will oversee a diverse portfolio of multi-residential, healthcare, recreational, and educational projects. You will lead operational execution, portfolio financial performance, and continuous improvement initiatives while managing relationships with senior leadership and influential external stakeholders. This is an opportunity to shape project delivery excellence, coaching, mentoring, and elevating the next generation of construction leaders.

What You'll Do

  • Lead the full lifecycle of new‑build commercial, institutional, and multi‑residential projects, from preconstruction planning through to project close‑out.
  • Guide design reviews, provide constructability insights, and establish clear scopes and methodologies that set projects up for success.
  • Build and manage project budgets across all estimating classes and oversee tender recaps, bid analysis, and subcontractor buy‑outs.
  • Oversee contract strategy and administration for multiple contract types including lump sum, construction management and design build projects.
  • Develop construction sequencing plans, site logistics, and execution strategies that enhance safety, productivity, and schedule performance.
  • Own project forecasting and financial reporting, maintaining accurate projections, managing change orders, and safeguarding project profitability.
  • Identify risks early, implement mitigation strategies, and surface opportunities throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Mentor and support multi-disciplinary project teams including PMs, coordinators, superintendents, and support staff, building capability and consistency across the delivery team.
  • Strengthen relationships with clients, consultants, and subcontractors to encourage repeat business and bolster the company’s reputation.
  • Collaborate with the business development team on proposals, scope narratives, and client presentations.

What We are Looking For

  • 10–20+ years of progressive experience in commercial or institutional construction, including large‑scale project execution and team leadership.
  • Proven experience managing project portfolios with multiple complex contract types ranging from $100 million $200 million
  • Diploma or degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field.
  • Ability to translate technical information into clear, actionable direction and lead with decisiveness, clarity, and accountability.
  • Demonstrated leadership capability, including managing and mentoring multidisciplinary teams of PMs, field and support staff.
  • Advanced expertise in budgeting, estimating, and tendering across multiple contract types (Lump Sum, CM, Design‑Build, etc.).
  • Proficiency with project software for project planning, construction sequencing, and site logistics planning.
  • Advanced level in forecasting, financial reporting, and risk management, protecting margin while keeping the project moving.
  • Has been successful driving continuous improvement, formalizing lessons learned and reinforcing a strong safety culture
