WHAT WILL I BE DOING?
The Assistant Manager, Slope Maintenance, will report directly to the Manager, Slope Maintenance and will oversee a team of Groomers, Snowmakers, Welders, and Heavy Equipment Operators. This position is responsible for helping to create a community of employees united by purpose and fun, deliver a mountain experience to guests that inspires stories, and who achieve departmental objectives and key results. This position and their team are responsible for ensuring the best and safest on-hill product is produced and maintained. They will plan, supervise, and coordinate the activities of teams engaged in grooming, snowmaking, and summer construction projects.
  • Leading by example; working alongside team members to ensure the team is supported
  • Manage performance and motivate by setting clear expectations, measuring productivity, coaching, addressing concerns, and recognizing achievements.
  • Creating and maintaining schedules according to budgets and operational demands.
  • Planning and providing standardized on-boarding and training
  • Enforcing safety regulations and coordinating accident procedures
  • Coordinating and overseeing daily shift work and team communications
  • Coordinating maintenance and timely reporting of equipment issues to maximize up time.

WHAT DO WE NEED FROM YOU?
  • 5+ years snowmaking or grooming experience required.
  • Landscape construction experience an asset.
  • Experience managing a medium size (30+ employees) work unit an asset
  • Comfort level working outdoors in extreme weather (heat or cold)
  • Ability to work weekend, day and overnight shifts.
