Shape the Future of Engineering

We’re looking for a builder who embodies next‑generation engineering: hands‑on, inventive, fast‑learning, and unafraid to rewrite the playbook.

Acuity is entering a period of accelerated growth, re‑architecting products, systems, and ways of working as a product‑led organization. As AVP, Engineering, you will guide our engineering transformation, strengthen platform foundations, bring an AI‑first approach, and build an engineering culture others look to as a model.

What You’ll Lead And Shape
  • Own the core of Engineering. Lead platform architecture, engineering operations, and systems design, ensuring technical decisions align with business outcomes.
  • Drive architectural and AI strategy. Make key decisions on architecture, data, and model design that power next‑generation products and platform capabilities.
  • Be accountable for delivery. Partner closely with Product to bring ideas to life, owning execution: hiring, planning, technical direction, and delivery excellence.
  • Champion technical clarity and focus. Strengthen engineering practices and evolve release management, testing, and documentation standards.
  • Foster a culture of learning and innovation. Create a fast, safe environment where experimentation and continuous improvement drive breakthroughs.
  • Develop leaders and teams. Coach managers and engineers to think in systems, grow autonomy, and model curiosity, accountability, and progress.
Your Team and Collaborators
  • Product: AVPs of Product, PMs, Product Design, Product Ops.
  • Research: Psychometricians and data scientists to integrate AI responsibly.
  • Customer Success & Support: Strengthen routing insights through PMs.
  • People & Culture: Partner on team growth, hiring, and leadership development.
What Success Looks Like In Your First Year
  • Engineering runs with rhythm and confidence. Teams ship predictably, learn continuously, and take pride in systems and standards.
  • Clarity replaces friction. Product and Engineering align on priorities, grounded in data, and collaborate with ease.
  • Architecture becomes a strategic advantage. Systems are stronger, faster, and more flexible, enabling new capabilities with speed and confidence.
  • AI amplifies engineering efficiency. Teams use AI to automate low‑value tasks, enhance velocity, improve code quality, and free up time for higher‑impact work.
  • Leadership capacity expands. Managers and senior engineers grow as mentors and collaborators, fostering a culture of shared ownership.
  • Teams feel steady through ambiguity. You lead with transparency and calm, helping teams stay focused even as priorities evolve and the organization grows quickly.
  • Innovation feels alive. Experiments run, ideas flow, and teams feel trusted to explore with accountability.
What You Bring
  • Proven experience leading modern, product‑led engineering organizations. Built and scaled high‑performing teams in SaaS or platform environments, with AI‑powered products and workflows.
  • Architectural and systems fluency. Strong understanding of architecture, data integrity, delivery pipelines, security, performance, and smart tradeoffs.
  • Technical and product fluency through transformation. Navigate ambiguity with steadiness, bringing clarity to complex decisions while ensuring Product and Engineering move in sync.
  • Coaching and talent development. Grow leaders, strengthening communication, autonomy, accountability, and strategic thinking.
  • Cultural leadership. Model curiosity, collaboration, and humility, creating an environment where experimentation and continuous improvement thrive.
  • A growth mindset. Adapt quickly, embrace new ways of working, and foster responsible, ethical AI use.
Benefits & Compensation
  • Base salary: $250,000‑$300,000+ CAD.
  • Health benefits: Comprehensive coverage from day one.
  • Remote flexibility: Fully remote within Canada, with optional international travel up to six weeks per year.
  • Paid time off: Self‑directed vacation (4‑6 weeks) plus a two‑week company‑wide closure each December.
  • Long‑term financial growth: 2% GRSP matching, stock options, and a $3,000 annual learning budget.
Hiring Process Overview
  • Initial conversation: Human exchange to learn about experience and interests.
  • Conversations with hiring manager: Explore leadership philosophy and career journey.
  • Panel & team conversations: Discussions with Product and Engineering leaders on collaboration, decision‑making, and impact.
  • Decision & follow‑up: Timely, thoughtful decision with clear communication at every step.
Our Culture & Mission

We believe in building technology that helps people become better professionals and humans. Our platform supports admissions, analytics, and program management across education, powered by AI‑enabled experiences that promote fairness, efficiency, and deep insights.

A remote‑first team of 140+ people, we value caring, curiosity, and drive. We scale intentionally, prioritizing trust, flexibility, and inclusion.

If you want purposeful work, growth opportunities, and the chance to shape systems that influence learning and leadership, we’d love to meet you.
