About Balsam CareBalsam Care is a not-for-profit organization providing provincially funded, community-based housing and support services for adults with disabilities and complex support needs. We are committed to person-centered, trauma-informed, and rights-based care and play an active role in Nova Scotia’s system transformation aligned with The Remedy.
The RoleReporting to the Board of Directors, the CEO provides overall strategic, operational, and financial leadership for Balsam Care. The CEO leads organizational performance, service quality, and system transformation while ensuring accountability, compliance, and long-term sustainability.
Key AccountabilitiesBalsam Care welcomes leaders from diverse professional backgrounds. We encourage applications from candidates with senior leadership experience in residential care, disability support, mental health, community services, government, health authorities, or publicly funded organizations. Experience in operations, clinical leadership, program delivery, advocacy, lived experience leadership, or rights-based system transformation is valued. Demonstrated leadership capability, values alignment, and readiness to grow into the full scope of the CEO role will be considered alongside formal executive titles.
