Duties
-Serve as an on-site liaison with remote major capital project managers.
-Review and approve designs from engineering consultants.
-Support the development of multi-year engineering works programs.
-Provide specialized engineering advice to the Engineering Officer.
-Personally manage complex projects assigned to the project team. Oversee the work of junior staff managing lower complexity projects.

Intent of the process
The intent of this process is to fill one (1) position on an indeterminate (permanent) basis in Greenwood, Nova Scotia. A pool of partially or essentially qualified candidates may be established through this process and used to staff identical or similar positions with various employment tenures (temporary and permanent), language profiles, operational requirements, and conditions of employment at the Department of National Defence. Positions to be filled

CO1. Mandatory use of CSA-approved safety footwear and other required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
CO2. Possession of a valid and unrestricted provincial Class 5 Driver’s licence.
CO3. Willingness and ability to work overtime on short notice when required.
CO4. Must be able to obtain a departmental vehicle operators permit (DND 404).
CO5. Maintenance of a Professional Engineering license in good standing with Engineers Nova Scotia, including meeting continuing professional development requirements.
CO6. Strict adherence to the Department of National Defence and Canadian Forces Code of Values and Ethics, Values and Ethics Code for the Public Sector, Directive on Conflict of Interest, and Defence Administrative Orders and Directives (DAOD) 7021-1, Conflict of Interest.
OR1. Willingness and ability to work overtime on short notice when required.

EDUCATION:ED1. Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in mechanical engineering, civil engineering, electrical engineering, aeronautical engineering, geological engineering, naval architecture or some other engineering specialty relevant to the duties of the position. Note 1: The courses for the specialization must be acceptable and must have been taken at a recognized post-secondary institution, but not necessarily within a degree program in the required specialization.
OC1. Eligibility for certification as a professional engineer in Canada with specialization in an engineering specialty relevant to the position (some positions may require eligibility for certification as a professional engineer in Canada without regard for the field of specialization).
EXPERIENCE:EX1. Experience providing specialized engineering expertise, advice, and guidance in a field relevant to the position.
EX2. Experience working with stakeholders on major engineering or life cycle management projects.
EX3. Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver engineering projects.
EX4. Experience planning, developing, and implementing engineering projects.
