We’re looking for a Senior Piping Engineer who brings exceptional technical knowledge, leadership, and a passion for designing safe, efficient, and reliable piping systems. In this role, you’ll guide engineering execution, mentor the next generation of piping professionals, and contribute to a broad portfolio of facility and pipeline projects across our global offices in Canada, the USA, Australia, and India.

What You’ll Do

As a Senior Piping Engineer, you will be responsible for delivering safe, efficient, and code-compliant piping systems. Your role will include:

Technical Leadership
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for piping design, engineering, and installation
  • Lead piping engineering activities across all project phases - Feasibility, Conceptual Design, DBMs, FEED, and Detailed Engineering
  • Oversee and authenticate key piping engineering deliverables including piping specifications, line designation tables, piping drawings, and material requisitions
  • Ensure deliverables meet applicable codes, including ASME B31.3, B31.1, B31.4, B31.8, and CSA Z662
  • Develop and maintain piping engineering standards, procedures, and best practices
Project Execution
  • Prepare engineering hour estimates, resource forecasts, and project execution plans
  • Coordinate global workshare activities across multiple Equinox offices
  • Work closely with Piping Design & Drafting to optimize piping arrangements and support model reviews (30%, 60%, 90%)
  • Identify and manage piping stress engineering requirements
  • Support field reviews, as-building activities, and RFI responses
  • Mentor intermediate and junior piping engineers, ensuring strong technical development
  • Engage with project management teams to ensure proactive and accurate workshare planning, forecasting, and earned value analysis
  • Work closely with Stress Engineering, Mechanical, Supply Chain, Project Management, and Client teams
  • Engage with clients to clarify requirements, resolve issues, and ensure expectations are met
Safety, Quality & Compliance
  • Champion adherence to company safety programs and engineering quality standards
  • Ensure compliance with ABSA, TSASK, TSBC, and related pressure piping regulatory requirements
  • Demonstrate strong knowledge of welding procedures, NDE practices, materials selection, and metallurgy
About You

You’re an experienced piping engineer who enjoys solving complex technical challenges and leading multidisciplinary project teams. You bring:

  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in Alberta and/or British Columbia
  • Degree in Mechanical or Metallurgical Engineering
  • 15+ years of oil & gas experience, including 5+ years in EPCM with a focus on piping engineering
  • Extensive experience designing natural gas, conventional oil, heavy oil, and thermal applications
  • Expert-level knowledge of ASME piping codes piping codes and CSA Z662
  • Strong understanding of above-ground pipeline design, materials selection, welding practices, and quality control is considered an asset
  • Experience interacting directly with ABSA inspectors and field engineering teams
  • Ability to navigate fast-paced project environments and manage multiple priorities
  • Familiarity with CAD/3D piping modeling is considered an asset
