Job Description:
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Book Binder who is proficient in the operation of the Akiles CoilMac-ExPro coil binding machine. The successful candidate will be responsible for the binding of printed materials, ensuring the highest standards of quality and consistency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate the Akiles CoilMac-ExPro to bind books, documents, and other materials.
- Ensure precise coil insertion, cutting, and finishing of booklets and other binding projects.
- Perform tabbing of documents, including accurately inserting and positioning tabs in the correct locations.
- Set up and adjust the machine for different binding specifications.
- Inspect finished products for quality, ensuring all bindery work meets company standards.
- Maintain the machine and troubleshoot any operational issues.
- Follow safety protocols and adhere to all production schedules.
- Collaborate with the production team to meet deadlines and customer specifications.
- Keep work area clean and organized.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience using the Akiles CoilMac-ExPro or similar binding equipment.
- Knowledge of coil binding processes, including punching, binding, and finishing.
- Attention to detail with a focus on quality control.
- Ability to troubleshoot and perform basic maintenance on binding machines.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Experience in the printing or bindery industry is a plus, but not required.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with other binding equipment (e.g., thermal, comb, wire, saddle stitch).
- Understanding of different paper stocks and formats.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and work efficiently under pressure.
- Attention to detail with a focus on quality control.
- Ability to troubleshoot and perform basic maintenance on binding machines.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Experience in the printing or bindery industry is a plus, but not required.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift materials and equipment up to 20 lbs.
- Ability to stand for entire duration of 8-hour shift.
Available Shifts:
- Day Shift: 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
- Evening Shift: 6:00 p.m. – 2:00 a.m.
- Night Shift: 2:00 a.m. – 8:00 a.m.
Employment Type: Temporary (April-May 2025) (2-month contract)
Hours: 10-40 hours per week (based on demand)
Job Type: Fixed term contract
Contract length: 2 months
Pay: $18.00-$22.00 per hour
Additional pay:
- Bonus pay
Schedule:
- Evening shift
- Monday to Friday
- Morning shift
- Night shift
- Weekends as needed
