Position Summary

Reporting to the Manager, Human Resources Staffing and working in conjunction with another Recruitment Specialist and a team of HR Consultants, the successful candidate for this full-time, temporary position will be responsible for full-cycle recruitment services to the supply support and custodial function for Edmonton Public Schools. The Recruitment Specialist will play an integral role in ensuring that the hiring practices and processes support the recruitment of high potential talent for the Division.

Job Duties/Responsibilities
  • conducting day-to-day recruitment activities including: pre-screening, interviewing, reference checking, facilitating pre-employment requirements and offers of employment
  • completing hiring documentation and assigning appropriate rates of pay consistent with candidate qualifications and experience
  • assessing support applicant profiles relative to special needs experience and recommending supply staff for long term assignments
  • providing advice and assistance to school and central leadership staff, applicants and other HR team members regarding recruitment processes and procedures
  • liaising with colleges, other educational institutions and representing Edmonton Public Schools at career fairs to attract prospective applicants
  • developing short and long-term strategies to attract and retain supply staff to meet ongoing needs within the Division
Education/Qualifications
  • a two year post-secondary program in Human Resource Management
  • full-cycle recruitment experience required, preferably in a unionized environment
  • knowledge of Human Rights Legislation and Employment Standards
  • knowledge of job placement practices and processes
  • excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to develop and maintain relationships with all stakeholders
  • strong organizational and multi-tasking skills to handle a fast-paced and demanding environment
  • self-starter who possesses the ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Microsoft Office, PeopleSoft
  • prior experience in an educational environment preferred
Rate of Pay

$2,552.90 - $3,256.40 bi-weekly
