With the exciting opening of our new Restaurant and Brewery in Tsawwassen, situated in the lively and expanding Southlands community, our Brewery & Restaurant aims to create unforgettable dining experiences that complement our diverse beer selection. We are presently in search of a passionate and imaginative Lead Brewer to spearhead our brewing team and work closely with the Head Brewer in shaping our brewing program. Position: Lead BrewerLocation: Southlands Restaurant and Brewery, Four Winds BrewingJob Type: Full-time – Salaried Position

Responsibilities:

This role will report directly to the Four Winds Head Brewer and Director of Brewing Operations and you will be responsible for all aspects of the brewing side at this location.

Production:

• Wort Production: Day to day brewing. Executing recipes on our 3 vessel decoction brewhouse
• Sanitation: Sanitize and record all data associated with sanitation procedures
• Yeast handling: Manage many yeast strains in cooperation with our current facility
• Brew House CIP: Keeping Brew House clean and looking new at all times
• CIP fermenters: Manage cellar cleanliness and CIP logs

Planning and Inventory Management:

• Monthly inventory
• Working with the Head Brewer on ordering raw ingredients and other supplies based on forecasting production
• Data entries (Ekos, Grist, brew sheets, Draughtlab)
• Warehouse management (organizing grain room based on production forecasting)

Quality control:

• Working with the Quality team to monitor product quality and track specification targets on the hot side of production (wort stability, gravity, ph.)
• Development of new recipes with the Head Brewer
• Research on brewery best practices, brewing techniques, and recipe development
• Improvement of existing recipes with the Head Brewer
• Monitoring brewery policies and procedures

Requirements:

• 5 Years of brewing experience
• Proven experience as a Lead Brewer or similar leadership role in a respected Brewery
• Formal diploma in brewing or equivalent professional training is an asset
• Exceptional passion for all things beer and brewing
• Strong leadership and communication skills, capable of managing, motivating, and inspiring a team
• Detail oriented, organized and mechanically inclined
