Job Description

The FOX Data Platform Team is looking for an experienced Manager, Analytics with a passion for leading high-performing teams and delivering robust, scalable, and high-quality Data Engineering solutions. This is a great opportunity to join a data-first media company and lead a team of data engineers within our Enterprise Data Platform organization. If you thrive on enabling engineering excellence, driving agile delivery, and translating business strategy into execution, this role is for you.

A Snapshot of Your Responsibilities
  • Manage a High-Performing Team — Manage the day-to-day activities for a team of data engineers, fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement. Drive team throughput and capacity. Ensure career development by supporting individual growth and team retention alongside the business functional lead.
  • Drive Agile Delivery as Scrum Master — Work as a project manager, owning and facilitating all agile ceremonies including sprint planning, daily standups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives. Maintain and prioritize the team backlog in collaboration with stakeholders and product owners, ensuring work is well-defined, estimated, and sequenced. Remove blockers, manage dependencies across teams, and shield the engineering team from interruptions to maximize delivery velocity. Track and report sprint metrics (velocity, burndown, cycle time) to drive predictability and continuous improvement.
  • Own Technical Strategy and Delivery — Act as a right-hand to the business functional lead, helping to shape and define team roadmap. Assist with the oversight and implementation of scalable data pipelines, workflows, and platforms built on AWS, Databricks, Redshift, Snowflake, DBT, and Airflow. Ensure the team delivers both real-time and batch data solutions that meet analytics and operational requirements. Hold the team accountable for data quality, security, reliability, and observability standards using tools like Monte Carlo and Atlan.
  • Partner Cross-Functionally — Partner with the business functional lead to manage stakeholders, providing technical context to business requirements. Collaborate with data engineers, business intelligence engineers, and platform architects to align on roadmap and delivery timelines. Communicate project status, risks, and outcomes clearly to business functional lead and senior leadership, along with cross-functional partners.
  • Foster Innovation and Operational Excellence — Champion engineering best practices including CI/CD, code quality, documentation, and incident management. Identify opportunities to improve team processes, tooling, and ways of working. Stay current with industry trends and evaluate emerging tools and technologies for adoption.
What You Will Need
  • Leadership and People Management — Proven experience managing and developing teams of data engineers or software engineers. Strong coaching and mentorship skills with a track record of growing individual contributors. Ability to navigate ambiguity, manage competing priorities, and make sound decisions under pressure.
  • Agile and Scrum Expertise — Hands-on experience as a Scrum Master or Agile Coach, preferably in a data or engineering context. Deep understanding of agile methodologies, sprint cadences, and backlog management. Certified Scrum Master (CSM) or equivalent certification preferred.
  • Technical Fluency — Solid understanding of data architecture, distributed systems, and modern data stack concepts. Hands-on experience with AWS, Databricks, Snowflake, Redshift, DBT, and Airflow — enough to guide technical decisions and credibly engage with senior engineers. Proficiency in SQL and Python; ability to review code and contribute when needed. Familiarity with CI/CD practices using GitHub Actions or Jenkins.
  • Communication and Collaboration — Exceptional ability to translate complex technical concepts into business-friendly narratives for diverse stakeholders. Comfortable operating in a large, dynamic, and matrixed organization.
What We Offer
  • Leadership Impact: Shape the direction of a foundational data engineering team at a global media company.
  • Creative Freedom: An open and innovative environment where you have the flexibility to experiment and drive change.
  • Flexible Work Timings: Empowering you to work in a way that aligns with your productivity and lifestyle.
  • Modern Data Ecosystem: Exposure to cutting-edge tools and technologies across data engineering and data science.
  • Career Growth: Opportunities for professional development and advancement within Fox\'s broader data organization.
Nice to Have, but Not a Dealbreaker
  • 10+ years of experience in data engineering or related fields, with at least 3 years in a people management role.
  • Strong programming expertise in Python and SQL with ability to engage in technical review and architecture discussions.
  • Experience running agile teams; CSM or SAFe certification a plus.
  • Familiarity with big data technologies and distributed computing frameworks.
  • Prior experience in large-scale enterprise data ecosystems in a fast-paced or startup environment.
  • Knowledge of Monte Carlo and Atlan for data observability and cataloging.
