Position: Assistant to the Board

Location: remote

Wage: $25 per hour

Type: Term-employment

Hours: approx. 4 hours a week

Term: June 2024 – November 2024

The Native Bee Society of BC is a collective of native bee researchers, artists, land managers, conservation practitioners, and enthusiasts working to promote the conservation of native bees in British Columbia. The Society is seeking a part-time assistant to support the Board in various administrative and communication tasks.

British Columbia Conservation Foundation’s vision is for thriving fish and wildlife populations in British Columbia. Our mission supports fish and wildlife through education, collaboration and habitat conservation. The Foundation is a mission-driven, registered non-profit and charity. We are one of the most active environmental non-profits in the province and were established in 1969.

Duties
  • Administrative tasks
  • Website – update “resources page” with new content developed over the past year. Keep it upto date with current events and volunteer opportunities.
  • Calendar – update with events as they come up
  • Event Logistics – assist with event planning and logistics, ensure events are on track and representatives are aware of event timelines, requirements, etc.
  • Event Reporting – internal tracking of public and educational events.
  • Grant Reporting – expand and maintain relationships with funders, partner organizations, and key stakeholders.

2. Communication tasks

  • Publicity – management of Social Media content and posting for Facebook, Instagram and Twitter
  • Engagement – possible onsite assistance at outreach events to support bee education and workshops.
  • Attend board meetings as needed to share updates
Essential Qualifications
  • Passionate about helping Native Bees and Native Plants
  • Knowledgeable/ passionate about supporting healthy ecosystems
  • Aligned with NBSBC missions and objectives (website)
  • Organized with good time management skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Good computer with reliable internet access
  • Ability to work independently
  • Must be able to legally work in Canada
Asset Qualifications
  • Experience managing social media accounts (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter) and website (WIX)
  • Experience using SLACK
  • Experience copy editing/proof reading is considered an asset
  • Experience applying for grants and securing funding
