Volunteer Board Member

Dancing with Parkinson’s (DWP) is looking for individuals with expertise in the arts, fundraising and donor relations, or non-profit administration/ law to join our Board of Directors.

About Us

Dancing With Parkinson’s (DWP) is a registered Canadian charity founded in Toronto in 2008 by professional dancer and fitness expert, Sarah Robichaud. Our evidence-based classes consist of a dance therapy and movement program specifically designed to enhance and improve participants’ functional fitness, mobility, and day-to-day physical activity.

Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Volunteer Director to join our Board of Directors. The Volunteer Director will play a crucial role in providing strategic leadership, guidance, and oversight to our organization. This individual will collaborate with fellow board members, staff, and stakeholders to advance DWP’s mission and objectives.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and direction in alignment with DWP’s mission, vision, and values.
• Ability to dedicate 2-3 hours per month to fulfill board responsibilities including bi-monthly board meetings, committee meetings, events, and activities.
• Contribute expertise, insights, and perspectives to board discussions and decision-making processes.
• Actively support fundraising efforts, including donor cultivation and stewardship.
• Represent the organization to stakeholders, including donors, partners, government agencies, and the community.
• Act as an ambassador for DWP, advocating for our mission and objectives in the community.

Experience/Skills Required

• Strong commitment to DWP’s mission, values, and goals.
• Prior experience on a non-profit board or other related governance experience preferred, but not required.
• Fundraising experience preferred.
• Experience in healthcare or the arts is an asset.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate others towards a common vision.
