A loving family with a 6-month-old daughter is looking for a mother’s helper/nanny. They live in Southlands, Vancouver, and own an upscale equestrian property in Southern California. The mother is an involved, stay-at-home parent.

You will assist the mother and help care for the baby when mom is otherwise occupied. You are caring and interested in learning new methods and approaches to childcare. Although the baby will start solids soon, she is still exclusively breastfed so the nanny should always stay close by in case the baby needs to be fed.

Your spare time will involve light housekeeping duties and assisting with the family’s two well-trained dogs.

Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Accompanying the mom with the baby in a stroller or carrier during equestrian activities.
• Taking the baby for stroller walks.
• Bringing the baby to the mom for breastfeeding.
• Laying the baby down for nap time.
• Facilitating developmentally-appropriate activities during wake times.

• Doing the child’s laundry and changing bedding, as needed.
• Cleaning and sterilizing bottles and toys.
• Organizing and maintaining nursery supplies.
• Helping with cleanup of spills and messes.
• Preparing baby meals and cleaning up.
• Tidying the house so it’s left in the same or better condition than it’s found.
• From time to time assisting with other tasks and responsibilities assigned.

• Walking the dogs in the rural Southlands neighborhood.
• Helping keep the dogs clean after walks.
• Occasionally feeding the dogs.

Your responsibilities will evolve as the family needs change and you will be expected to adapt.

The ideal candidate is nurturing, maternal, reliable, and trustworthy. You are able to work closely with the mother while still being independent enough to manage your time and contribute to the household. Common sense and judgment are key personal attributes, particularly being respectful of the mother’s relationship and involvement with her child.

It would be a benefit if the candidate could occasionally work night shifts, for which additional compensation would be provided.

Travel may be required from time to time, so it is important that you are willing to travel and have a valid passport.

Driving is not required for this position.
