About Firecircle
Firecircle is Canada’s only online Tourism and Hospitality business development hub.
Firecircle is focused on supporting new and existing entrepreneurs to plan, launch, grow and strengthen tourism businesses in their communities. We do this through a unique combination of accessible online learning resources plus virtual group and one-to-one business mentorship and coaching for our members.
Along with Firecircle’s online membership programs, Firecircle recently announced its latest project, Transition to Tourism Entrepreneurship. From March 2024 through
March 2025, this unique three-year project, funded in part by the Government of
Canada’s Sectoral Initiatives Program (SIP), is an intensive business development program founded on Firecircle’s innovative 5x5 Method™ and customized to empower 1,000 tourism and hospitality entrepreneurs from across Canada to envision, launch and grow their best business ideas through a series of animated online and live video workshops, step-by-step guidance and expert, sustained mentorship. Firecircle’s innovative hybrid live and digital workshops and animated videos are the fast track to sustainable visitor, market and export-readiness.
The new resources being prepared and delivered through the Transition to Tourism
Entrepreneurship program are targeted at the needs of Indigenous, rural, Northern and Francophone entrepreneurs as well as entrepreneurs with disabilities seeking to start a business or recover their existing operations.
Firecircle’s Transition to Tourism Entrepreneurship Project helps people in Northern, and Rural and Remote communities in Canada strengthen their existing Tourism and
Hospitality businesses or start new ones. This project has a particular focus on supporting Indigenous and/or Rural and Remote entrepreneurs who may also be
Francophone or entrepreneurs with disabilities.
Specifically, over the course of the project, we will be working to support:
- Existing Indigenous entrepreneurs to pivot or re-launch Tourism and
Hospitality businesses
- New Indigenous entrepreneurs move into the Tourism and Hospitality industry by planning new businesses
- Existing entrepreneurs in Rural and Remote communities to pivot or re-launch
Tourism and Hospitality businesses
- New entrepreneurs in Rural and Remote communities move into the Tourism and Hospitality industry by planning new businesses
- Entrepreneurs with disabilities to access Firecircle business planning resources
- Francophone entrepreneurs to access Firecircle business planning resources
Project Overview
To support the size and complexity of our “Transition to Tourism Entrepreneurship” project, Firecircle is seeking the contract services of additional Business Mentors for our Ignite Team to help with group and individual business mentorship, coaching and ultimately member success.
This contract position will report directly to the Lead Coach at Firecircle and will help us to help provide group and individual live virtual coaching and business mentorship required to support participants in the TTE project.
The responsibilities and tasks associated with this contract include:
- Orientation on, and proficiency in, Firecircles proprietary 5x5 MethodTM tourism and hospitality entrepreneur accelerator program
- Managing Learner Incentives Program - Tracking learner progress and sending out digital and physical incentives (gift cards, letters of encouragement, etc)
- Monitor areas of difficulty - Monitor Learner progress and document areas of difficulty. Propose changes to process to aid in supporting Learners through areas of difficulty.
- Webinars and Live Calls - Organize and Lead virtual live group meetings to review Learners experiences, solicit feedback and make recommendations.
- Track course completion and Certificates - Track learner progress and send final certificates to those completing the program.
- Bi-Monthly Meetings - Attend bi-monthly meetings with Operations team to review processes, progress and recommendations.
- Professional Development - Participate in the paid-for professional development workshops and courses being delivered to coaching, mentorship and facilitation team to address Indigenous, Rural/Remote, entrepreneurs with disabilities and Francophone entrepreneurs to enhance the success of these participant groups
- Success for this project will be measured, in part, by the following outcomes:
- Support participants in the TTE project in communities across Canada
- Participants supported to complete the training
- Participants supported to create a final business plan
- Participants qualify for see loan or grant funding toward their business
- Participants supported with incentives
- Existing entrepreneurs are supported to adjust business

Budget
The budget for this contract is $43.00 per hour, depending on experience, for up to 21 hours of work per week. The term of the available contract will run from date of contract until March 31st, 2025. This contract has a maximum budget of up to $35,714 +GST per year.

- Group and individual mentoring, coaching and/or business advisory experience
- Managing small teams and/or cohorts of people (in educational environment)
- Online learning experience
- Business or Education background
In the coming year, we will be translating our program into French and updating our resources to work more effectively with people with hearing and vision disabilities.
The ability to speak French fluently and/or any experience working with business owners/entrepreneurs with disabilities is a major asset.

Project proposals should speak to the following:

Proposal Submission Process

understand it from this Request for Proposal.
Proposals will be evaluated based on the following:
- Demonstration of experience working with the Tourism and Hospitality
Industry.
- Demonstration of experience working with target groups of Northern and
Indigenous (urban, rural, remote), and/or Francophone (anywhere in Canada), and/or rural and remote markets (with populations under 250,000) and/or entrepreneurs with disabilities (anywhere In Canada)
- Examples of previous related work and references.
- Demonstration of organizational capacity to carry out the scope of work.
- Value perceived in the fees quoted in your proposal.
